Question:

Can you provide the details about how 75625 is performed?

Answer:

During a cardiac cath, the physician may inject contrast in the proximal or mid portion of the aorta. The catheter remains in the aorta (i.e., non-selective) for the purpose of evaluating the ostia and/or main renal artery(s). Images are obtained, and documentation of findings is described in the dictated report. Documentation should clearly state that a non-selective injection was performed for evaluation of a unilateral renal artery or for bilateral renal arteries. This code is only to be assigned when non-selective renal angiography is performed at the same time as a diagnostic cardiac catheterization. It is imperative that there be true medical necessity and documentation present to support assignment of this code for non-selective renal angiography.
