Question:

How could the efficiency adjustment and facility PE reductions impact reimbursement for cardiology services, and what strategies can practices use to offset potential revenue declines?

Answer:

Because the efficiency adjustment affects many non–time-based cardiology codes, reimbursement for EP procedures, device implants, and imaging may decline, particularly in facility settings. Facility PE reductions amplify this effect, while office-based services are less impacted. To mitigate revenue shifts, practices can strategically reassess site-of-service distribution, leveraging office-based pathways when appropriate. Fully utilizing longitudinal care codes like G2211 and APCM add-ons, as well as telehealth flexibilities, can offset reductions.
