General Question for the Week of May 1, 2023

Question:

When do we use 90460?

Answer:

Code 90460 represents delivery of either a single-component vaccine product providing protection for a single disease (for example, hepatitis B) or the first component of a multi-component (combination) vaccine product providing protection for multiple diseases. Code 90461 represents the delivery of each additional component of a multi-component vaccine beyond the first component. For example, coding administration of the DTaP intramuscular administration would be reported as 90460 for diphtheria, 90461 for tetanus, and 90461 for pertussis.
