Question:

Can codes 88362 (nerve teasing) and 88380 (laser capture microdissection) be reported together for the same specimen on the same date of service?

Answer:

Based on NCCI edits, laser capture microdissection is also treated as a component of nerve teasing (88362) and should not be billed on the same date of service for the same specimen. Refer to the NCCI Policy Narrative for the documentation requirements and billing guidelines that define separate and distinct specimens. When documentation supports billing of both CPT® codes, a modifier may be appended to 88380.
