Can codes 88362 and 88380 be billed together for the same case, and if so, what documentation is required?
Answer:
When a single case requires processing of multiple specimens that will constitute the billing of 88362 and 88380 on the same date of service, documentation must reflect the examination of separate and distinct specimens. When documentation supports reporting of both procedures, a modifier may be appended to 88380.
