What coding guidance applies to unattended sleep studies, including Medicare coverage considerations and the correct distinction between CPT® 95806 and home sleep test (HST) codes?
Although code 95806 may be assigned if a sleep study is unattended, be sure and check with your Medicare contractor to confirm that you have met medical necessity requirements and coverage criteria. Do not assign 95806 for home sleep tests (HSTs), which are represented by G0398, G0399, and G0400.
