Respiratory Question for the Week of September 14, 2020

Question:

What codes would I report for moderate sedation when performing spirometry for an infant?

Answer:

In 2017, the “bull’s-eye” symbol representing moderate sedation was removed from this code. Moderate sedation is now separately reportable, when appropriate, with codes 99151, 99153, 99155, and 99157 for patients younger than five years of age.
