What exactly does 0508T define? Is there any modifier that needs to be reported with this service?
Answer:
Code 0508T defines a new technique for ultrasound bone density measurement. The measurement is taken at the tibia. Note that this code was added to Bone Mineral Density Studies NCD 150.3 effective. July 1, 2018. You should report this code with revenue code 0402. Assign modifier 26 to describe the professional component when technical services provided are hospital-based.
