Question:
When is negative pressure ventilation appropriate to use?
Answer:
The primary use for continuous negative-pressure (CNP) ventilation is nighttime respiratory muscle rest for patients with, for example, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or neuromuscular disorders. This procedure is usually not employed in the acute situation, but rather is used as a means of intermittent support for chronic lung failure. You would report it with the following code:
94662 | CNP, initiation and management |
Be sure that you bill the CNP services per day, not per hour.
