Question:

Do you have any tips for reporting therapeutic ultrafiltration? What code would we use?

Answer:

You would report code 0692T. Therapeutic ultrafiltration is a process by which blood is filtered through a semipermeable membrane to remove isotonic plasma water and restore the patient’s volume status Before the creation of code 0692T, an unclassified code had to be used. Report only once per day. Do not report 0692T with 36511, 36512, 36513, 36514, 36516, 36522, 90935, 90937, 90945, 90947. Use code 36522 for extracorporeal photopheresis. See 90935, 90937 for hemodialysis procedures See 93945, 93947 for dialysis procedures
