Question:
As a follow-up to last week’s question, if an embolic protection device cannot be used, which code do we report between the two?
Answer:
If an embolic protection device cannot be used, assign code 37216 instead of 37215. Medicare policies for carotid stent placement are extremely limited and do not cover 37216 in any case.
