Question:

What steps is CMS taking to improve access to high-cost specialty drugs, particularly for underserved populations served by Indian Health Service and tribal hospitals?

Answer:

CMS is offering an add-on payment to the All-Inclusive Rate (AIR) for high-cost drugs in Indian Health Service (IHS) and tribal hospitals. This adjustment will improve access to specialty drugs, including those for cardiology, in underserved populations, aligning with the Cancer Moonshot initiative and improving care access for cardiac patients in these critical settings. The move highlights the importance of equity in healthcare access, especially for vulnerable populations.
