The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is releasing a new product brief on clinical documentation integrity (CDI), with details to be revealed today during the live edition of Talk-Ten-Tuesdays.

“Clinical documentation integrity (CDI) and technology continue to evolve across the continuum of care, including both the inpatient and outpatient settings,” according to an announcement by AHIMA. “The expansion of CDI and advancing technology has resulted in the need for prospective CDI health record reviews.”

According to the announcement, the new practice brief is designed to provide “best practices relating to prospective reviews, and to recognize the difference between documentation alerts designed to influence a provider’s documentation versus a clinical alert for clinical decision-making at the time of charting.”

Tammy Combs (RN, MSN, CCS, CCDS, CDIP, CNE,

AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer), the practice director of CDI and clinical foundations for AHIMA, will provide additional information during the live broadcast that airs at 10 a.m. Eastern.
