What is meant by selective pelvic angiography?
Answer:
By definition, true selective pelvic angiography (CPT® code 75736) is when the catheter is selectively placed into the internal iliac artery (which is also called the hypogastric artery) or a branch of the internal iliac artery. Common branches that may be engaged are the anterior division or posterior division of the internal iliac, uterine artery, vaginal artery, etc. If the catheter is not selectively placed in the internal iliac artery or a branch of the internal iliac, it is non-selective pelvic angiography and not reported with CPT code 75736.
