Question:

If an infusion is stopped because the patient is having an adverse reaction to a drug, can we still charge for the infusion?

Answer:

Yes. Based on the start and stop times documented, the infusion can be billed for the amount of time it was given prior to the stop. Code as an infusion or push as appropriate based on the total documented time.
