What is the difference in coding for 81025 and 84703?

Answer:

Urine pregnancy testing is coded with 81025. Often laboratories use the same test kit for urine and serum pregnancy testing. The code for qualitative serum pregnancy testing is 84703. The difference is not the methodology or analyte, but merely the specimen.
