Question:

What are the CMS updates regarding testing payment for high throughput COVID-19 testing?

Answer:

The agency has declared that starting on January 1, 2021, Medicare will pay $100 “only to laboratories that complete high throughput COVID-19 diagnostic tests within two calendar days of the specimen being collected.” In addition, for laboratories who can’t complete the test results within in two days and take longer, Medicare is expected to pay a rate of $75.
