What is the correct CPT® code for an ultrasound of an inguinal mass that is found to be an inguinal hernia?
Answer:
The correct code for a mass located below the level of the inguinal ligament is code 76882. Depending upon the location of the hernia, other code options may be 76705 for a hernia into the abdominal wall or 76857 for a hernia below the level of the iliac crest into the pelvic wall.
