Is it possible to report biliary stenting codes (47538, 47539, 47540) more than once per session?
These codes may be reported more than once in the same session, using appropriate modifier(s), for the additional procedures in the following circumstances: 1. Two stents are placed side-by-side within a single bile duct; 2. Two or more stents are placed into separate bile ducts from the same access; or 3. Two or more stents are placed from separate accesses into the same bile duct, with one stent being placed through the other.
