Question:

Should the CPT® codes be used to bill for mammograms or should the G codes be used?

Answer:

Beginning January 1, 2018, Medicare is finally going to accept CPT codes for mammograms. The previously reported G codes  (G0202, G0204, G0206) will be deleted effective December 31, 2017. Now, the following codes should be reported to all payers:

77065 Diagnostic mammography, including computer-aided detection (CAD) when
performed; unilateral
77066 bilateral
77067 Screening mammography, bilateral (2-view study of each breast), including
CAD when performed
