What code do I report for an EP study for the evaluation of a subcutaneous implantable defibrillator?

Answer:

Report code 93644 for the evaluation of a subcutaneous implantable defibrillator. Code 93644 is used for both pulse generator and/or lead testing. There are no separate codes for those procedures, unlike traditional ICD testing 93640, 93641).

93644 Electrophysiologic evaluation of subcutaneous implantable defibrillator (includes defibrillation threshold evaluation, induction of arrhythmia, evaluation of sensing for arrhythmia termination, and programming or reprogramming of sensing or therapeutic parameters)
