How does the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) 2026 final rule impact cardiology?
For 2026, CMS finalized a net OPPS payment update of 2.6% for hospitals that meet outpatient quality reporting requirements. This update reflects a 3.3% increase in the hospital market basket, offset by a 0.7% productivity adjustment. Ambulatory Surgical Centers will also receive a 2.6% update, as ASC rates continue to be aligned with the IPPS market basket.
