Cardiology Question for the Week of December 21, 2020

Question:

Can we report 33222 with complex repair codes from the Integumentary System?

Answer:

Code 33222 was revised in 2014 to describe skin pocket relocation rather than a revision to provide greater specificity for the procedure performed. An instructional parenthetical note was added to 33222 instructing users not to report these codes with specific incision and drainage, debridement, and complex repair codes from the Integumentary System.
