What code would I report for transapical access of the left atrium during cardiac catheterization for a congenital heart defect? Is there a new 2022 code for this?

Answer:

For transseptal or transapical access of the left atrium during cardiac catheterization for congenital heart defect[s], use 93462 in conjunction with 93595, 93596, 93597.

93462 Left heart catheterization by transseptal puncture through intact septum or by transapical puncture (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure)
