Cardiology Question for the Week of June 24, 2019

Question:

I have a question about CPT® codes 75571, 75572, 75573 and 75574. Do each of these CPT codes include calcium scoring, or is there a separate CPT code to report for calcium scoring?

Answer:

Code 75571 is assigned for calcium scoring when it is done as a stand-alone exam. If performed with the other cardiac/coronary CT/CTAs (75572–75574), calcium scoring is included and not reported separately.

75571 Computed tomography, heart, without contrast material, with quantitative evaluation of coronary calcium
