Question:
When would it be correct to assign the code 93463?
Answer:
The intent of this code is to evaluate the responsiveness of the pulmonary circulation to selective pulmonary vasodilators to help guide future therapy. Per CPT®, this code should not be reported when coronary interventions (see CPT codes 92920–92944) are performed. Additionally, CPT 93463 should not be assigned when either intracoronary or intravenous coronary thrombolysis is performed.
