Question:

Do you have any coding guidelines for 92941?

Answer:

Codes 92941 may only be reported once per encounter. When multiple vessels are involved in the acute MI, the culprit vessel is coded with 92941 and the other vessels are coded using either the primary PCI codes or additional PCI codes according to coding convention. Documentation must clearly state this is an urgent intervention (typically ER to table in approximately 90 minutes). If the patient is stabilized and then brought to the cardiac cath suite, this is not considered an acute MI intervention. NCCI states report once per encounter (no add-on code).

92941 Percutaneous transluminal revascularization of acute total/subtotal occlusion during acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery or coronary artery bypass graft, any combination of intracoronary stent, atherectomy and angioplasty, including aspiration thrombectomy when performed, single vessel
