Cardiology Question for the Week of November 26, 2018

Question:

For iFR readings that do not go on to FFR, do you need to add modifier 52 to the charge code 93571 and/or 93572?

Answer:

Yes, modifier 52 is required with 93571 and 93572 when IFR is performed instead of FFR.

93571 Intravascular Doppler velocity and/or pressure derived coronary flow reserve measurement (coronary vessel or graft) during coronary angiography including pharmacologically induced stress; initial vessel
+93572 each additional vessel (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure)
