Question:

I have heard that the Open Payments program provides information about financial relationships regarding physicians and teaching hospitals. Does it tell the public which could be conflicts of interest?

Answer:

According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), “Open Payments does not identify which financial relationships are beneficial or which may cause conflicts of interest.”
