Question:
When is code 96367 assigned, and what, if any, documentation requirements may exist?
Answer:
Code 96367 (sequential infusion) is assigned when a different substance is administered through the same access line after the initial or prior substance has completed infusing. Documentation of a sequential infusion should include a notation that the IV line was cleared or flushed between substances. Each sequential administration of a different drug or substance lasting longer than 15 minutes should be separately charged.
