Question:

Do we assign G0498 for administering a non-chemotherapy drug via prolonged infusion requiring the use of a portable or implantable pump?

Answer:

When administering a non-chemotherapy drug via prolonged infusion requiring the use of a portable or implantable pump, assign HCPCS code C8957. Report code 96416 only when administering a chemotherapy drug, and no additional cost is incurred for the portable infusion pump. Alternatively, HCPCS code G0498 will be billed for prolonged infusions where there is also a cost associated with the portable pump.
