Question:

Has CMS added any diagnosis code lately to the list of codes covered by Medicare for the thyroid testing national coverage determination (NCD)?

Answer:

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that the following ICD-10-CM diagnosis code was added to the list of codes covered by Medicare for the thyroid testing national coverage determination (NCD) (policy number 190.22).

E11.10 Type 2 diabetes mellitus with ketoacidosis without coma

The above code will take effect on July 1, 2019, according to Transmittal 4265 (Change Request 11224 issued March 22, 2019), and its effective date is October 1, 2017.
