Laboratory Question for the Week of August 5, 2019

Question:

I’ve heard three new ADLTS are effective this summer. Can you provide more information?

Answer:

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the addition of new advanced diagnostic laboratory tests (ADLT) codes. CMS rescinded transmittal 4296 dated May 3, 2019, and replaced it with transmittal 4326, dated, June 28, 2019 to update the policy section with additional ADLT information. The three new ADLTS are effective July 1, 2019. See the list of ADLTS here: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Medicare-Fee-for-Service-Payment/ClinicalLabFeeSched/PAMA-Regulations.html#ADLT_tests
