Question:
What is the revenue code for albumin products and which codes should I report for an infusion?
Answer:
First, note that CMS does not recognize the albumin products represented by P9041, P9045, P9046, and P9047 as blood products. They have been assigned a status indica¬tor of “K” under the OPPS. The revenue code for the albumin products is 0636 rather than 038X or 0390. With a classification of drug/biological, the infusion of this product should be reported with the drug administration codes 96365–96368.
