Question:

If we have multiple markers for reporting flow cytometry tests using code 88184, how would this process work for coding?

Answer:

Codes 88184 and 88185 report the technical component of flow cytometry tests for identifying specific cell surface, cytoplasmic, or nuclear markers. Report 88184 for the first marker, and add-on code 88185 for each additional marker. For example, if 10 markers were performed, bill 88184 once and 88185 × 9.

88184 Flow cytometry, cell surface, cytoplasmic, or nuclear marker, technical component only; first marker
88185 Flow cytometry, cell surface, cytoplasmic, or nuclear marker, technical component only; each additional marker (List separately
