Laboratory Question for the Week of May 28, 2018

Question:

Has there been any word yet from CMS on the annual meeting where the public presents its opinions on payments for 2019 new codes etc.?

Answer:

June 25, 2018 has been set for the public meeting to discuss the new and reconsidered clinical diagnostic laboratory test codes for the 2019 Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule (CLFS). This announcement appeared in a Federal Register notice issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on March 30, 2018.

The preliminary list of clinical diagnostic laboratory codes to be discussed at the public meeting includes a total of 81 entries, with only the payments of two current codes being reconsidered; the remaining are new codes, mostly molecular pathology.
