Laboratory Question for the Week of October 21, 2019

Question:

What is the primary goal of the Laboratory Act?

Answer:

The Laboratory Access for Beneficiaries Act aims to “delay the next round of the (PAMA) data reporting by one year to ensure that all applicable laboratories that are required to report private payer data have the necessary time to do so.” Stakeholders have long believed the flawed data collection process is responsible for significant year to year cuts to crucial clinical diagnostics and ultimately the erosion of Medicare laboratory benefits.
