Question:

In the answer to the June 12, 2017, laboratory question, you indicated that G0432, G0433, and G0435 should be used for a screening test for HIV infection. Isn’t code G0475 also used for this test?

Answer:

Yes, upon closer read of MM9980, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) say that MACs will recognize HCPCS codes G0432, G0433, and G0435 along with G0475—HIV antigen/antibody, combination assay, screening. For more details on this guideline, including the acceptable diagnosis codes to report, go to https://www.cms.gov/Outreach-and-Education/Medicare-Learning-Network-MLN/MLNMattersArticles/Downloads/MM9980.pdf.
