Accurate ICD-10-CM coding for diabetes and its complications remains a persistent challenge for coders, CDI specialists, and HIM teams. Complex combination codes, documentation gaps, and frequent guideline updates create confusion, leading to improper sequencing, missed linkages, and incorrect reimbursements. These errors result in claim denials, compliance risks, and lost revenue for healthcare organizations. Without a clear understanding of diabetes coding nuances, you could face increased audit exposure and inaccurate quality reporting, ultimately impacting patient care and financial performance.
Join coding expert Dr. Angela Comfort, DBA, MBA, RHIA, CDIP, CCS, CCS-P, as she provides actionable strategies to navigate ICD-10-CM guidelines with confidence. By the end of the session, you will be equipped to code accurately, reduce claim denials, enhance compliance, and even offer providers with guidance to improve documentation clarity and specificity, reducing errors and strengthening audit readiness.
Diabetes is one of the most frequently coded chronic conditions, yet errors persist due to its complexity.
