Question:

How is MRE different than USE?

Answer:

Both codes share some of the same principles of elastography, but MRE is not limited by the need for an acoustic window like ultrasound elastography. This difference allows MRE to be used in areas where ultrasound elastography could not “penetrate” or “see.” Examples of where MRE could be of use where ultrasound elastography will not work, are areas enclosed by bone, such as the brain.
