Radiology Question for the Week of January 31, 2022

Question:

When should new 2022 codes 50436 and 50437 not be reported?

Answer:

Neither of these codes is reported for normal dilation of the tract for placement of a nephrostomy tube or nephroureteral catheter. That normal, basic dilation is included in the placement codes 50432, 50433, or 52334. Do not assign code 74485 with code 50436 or 50437 for the same procedure.
