Question:

I have a question in regards to hospital (TC) billing for a code in question 74230. Is the hospital allowed to bill for 74230 if the radiologist is not present or in the room for the procedure?

Answer:

The short answer is no. You can always check with your specific payor, but according to the Medicare fee schedule, 74230 requires personal supervision; therefore, the physician must be, in attendance, in the room, during the performance of the procedure.
