Question:
For respiratory rehabilitation services can we use the time in and out of the department to calculate billable units of service?
Answer:
The time in and out of the department should not be used to calculate billable units of service. Instead, the time spent in each modality should be totaled and billable units calculated. When recording start and stop times, the patient should already be in the exercise area (e.g., on the treadmill, at the mat, or in the weight area) and prepared to begin treatment.
