Respiratory Question for the Week of December 24, 2018

Question:

Can pulmonary rehabilitation code G0424 be reported with codes G0237–G0239 (therapeutic procedures to increase strength or improve respiratory function)?

Answer:

No, Medicare does not allow pulmonary rehab to be reported with any of the codes you list because the services are mutually exclusive. The procedures described by HCPCS codes G0237–G0239 include therapeutic procedures as well as all related monitoring services, the latter including, but not limited to, pulmonary function testing (e.g., pulmonary stress testing reported with CPT code 94618, cardiopulmonary exercise testing reported with CPT code 94621).
