Respiratory Question for the Week of January 1, 2024

Question:

What are the key points to consider for pulmonary rehabilitation services in 2024?

Answer:

For 2024, note that pulmonary rehabilitation items and services must be furnished in a physician‘s office, a hospital outpatient setting, or an extension of PBD. All settings must have a physician immediately available and accessible for medical consultations and emergencies at all times that items and services are being furnished under the program. Report CPT® 94625 or 94626, as appropriate, per session.

In 2024, hospitals and practitioners will report a maximum of two 1-hour sessions per day.Reporting of one session of pulmonary rehabilitation services in a day requires documentation of treatment duration lasting at least 31 minutes. Two sessions of pulmonary rehabilitation services may only be reported on the same day if the duration of treatment is at least 91 minutes.
