When performing an inhalation treatment for acute airway obstruction, will CMS pay for 94640 and 94644 if billed on the same date of service for the same patient?
Answer:
When providing inhalation treatment for acute airway obstruction, CMS will not pay for both codes 94640 and 94644 or +94645 if they are billed on the same date of service for the same patient. The medical record should be reviewed to determine which code should be submitted for payment.
