What is code 94727 used to evaluate?

Answer:

Code 94727 was created in 2012 to replace the nitrogen washout curve including alveolar nitrogen or helium equilibration time. This service is used to evaluate:

  • Total lung capacity
  • Functional residual capacity
  • Residual volumes
  • Closing volumes and distribution of ventilation
94727 Gas dilution or washout for determination of lung volumes and, when performed, distribution of ventilation and closing volumes
