Question:

Do you have any tips when reporting 94726 in conjunction with other codes?

Answer:

Code 94726 includes the determination of lung volumes, residual volume, functional residual capacity (FRC), and airway resistance. From a billing perspective, do not report 94727 and/or 94728 in addition to 94726, as these services are considered inherent components. Pay close attention to NCCI bundling edits when 94726 is reported in conjunction with other CPT codes for pulmonary diagnostic testing and therapies. Total body plethysmography is considered medically necessary when used as a pulmonary function test for measuring thoracic gas volume and airway resistance.
