Respiratory Question for the Week of May 9, 2022

Question:

What does APC status indicator J1 identify?

Answer:

This indicator is used to identify encounters that include specific combinations of services designated by CMS that, when performed in combination with each other and reported on a facility outpatient claim, would allow for all other OPPS payable services and items reported on the claim to be deemed adjunctive services representing components of comprehensive service and resulting in a single prospective payment for the comprehensive service based on the costs of all reported services on the claim.
