Question:
Can you help us better understand the intent behind code 94728?
Answer:
Computer-aided IOS enables clinicians to detect subtle changes in a patient’s airway function earlier than when using conventional and more expensive techniques. As the patient breathes through a pneumotachograph, a sound wave generated by a loudspeaker is superimposed over their breathing. The patient’s airflow and sound wave response is transmitted to the apparatus and used to calculate the various components of resistance to breathing. Less effort-dependent, it has been shown to be better tolerated by the pediatric population.
